‘Lose This Child’ stop motion music video – Reviews

Posted by Eatliz  |  No Comments  |

“Tel Aviv’s Eatliz play a classic brand of atmospheric indie rock that has fueled great popularity in their Israeli homeland..In the new animated video for “Lose This Child” the brooding mood and simple imagery of animated turtles crawling across a deserted nighttime beach ideally suits the song’s essential melancholy”.
Popmatters

“Eatliz makes dreamy, atmospheric songs and imbuing them with complex and ornate arrangements and haunting vocals. And they have a Gorillaz-like alternate, altered universe of animated personae. Their new video, “Lose This Child,” continues their tradition of creating spellbinding, envelope-pushing, effects-bending videos. Taken from their album Teasing Nature, “Lose This Child” recalls some of the quieter moments of Radiohead’s OK Computer. The video is a stop-motion tour de force, crafting an entire imaginary world out of sand, with turtles and other sea creatures rising out of the ground. It really needs to be seen to be believed”.
MTV Buzzworthy

“Lose This Child” is some heady, spooky prog rock off their new album Teasing Nature. It has an ever-so-slight Eastern folk twang on the melodies and acoustics in the verses. The chorus is really just a chance for the lead songstress Lee Triffon to show off those heart-wrenching high notes”.
MTV Iggy

“Lose yourself in this mesmerizing stop-animation video. Tender, thought-provoking and exquisitely rendered; The video interprets the lyric voice of the individual into a reflection on our place and role in the environment. The fragility of existence translated into images, it sounds a warning and a message of hope in the power of art to transcend and transform reality.
Midnighteast magazine

“Lose This Child uses stop-motion sand sculptures to tell the tale of hatchling turtles battling to the sea. Shot over the course of a night, this beautiful video shows just what can be achieved with a modest budget, lots of sand and lots of patience. Laura Swinton caught up with The Nathans to find out more”

The video was premiered at Popmatters.

The video was directed by the famed Yuval and Merav Nathan, who are known for their eye-popping stop motion animation, beautifully illustrated in the GRAMMY nominated video for ‘Her Morning Elegance‘ which has been viewed in YouTube only more than 16 million times.

The brilliant new creation from the Nathans utilizes moving sand sculptures, which help make the characters part of their environment. The majority of the video was painstakingly photographed frame by frame at a beach in the early morning hours over several months. Each night, the crew had limited time and were up against the elements, but were able to create this mini-masterpiece. “Lose This Child” marks the second collaboration between Eatliz and the Nathans. The first was the video for “Attractive” which which was named the “Best Video of the Decade” by Israel’s music television channel.

New album Reviews

‘Teasing Nature’ is Eatliz third release, which pulls the band out of their comfort zone. The outcome is a very focused and clear album in comparison to the bands past albums – all the heterogenic elements flow into a common denominator. Still you can find in their music a broad range of genres and adventurous vibe. The album was mixed by Tamir Muskat (Balkan Beat Box).

Teasing Nature comes with a special edition of album and Live DVD, documenting a show at Barby Tel Aviv club. As a bonus, the band’s eye popping animation music videos are included.

Here is some of the first album reviews;

“Eatliz has done an incredible job capturing the band’s live energy in the studio album. The stunning and delicate piano ballad “Got It,” shows Lee’s crystalline layers of vocalise perfectly balance the lyrical passages. The album concludes with two standouts; “Tears”, Tremendous vocal harmonies and rich instrumental arrangements characterize a warm chorus. The powerful instrumental conclusion will likely conclude the main set or encore of a few Eatliz live performances. The album concludes with the delicately sung accessible “Mystical Lady.” Keyboard- and guitar-based instrumentals perfectly complement Lee’s crystalline vocal delivery. Production of the final track is outstanding”
Musical Discoveries

“With their second album coming out and tours of Europe and the US on the books, Tel Aviv versatile alternative rockers are ready to take on the world. Teasing Nature represents a giant step forward for the band, with their divergent influences coalescing into a convincing cohesive whole. From the seductively syncopated opening song, “Your House,” to the pumped up single “Berlin” presents their harder-edged pop side, while the delicate “Got It” would make Kate Bush stand up and take notice”
The Jerusalem Post

“Possibly because it’s from across the world, Eatliz’s music has twists and turns that you don’t see coming and takes you into unfamiliar territory built out of harmonies and unusual chord progressions. Songs like “Lose This Child” take you on a journey through very different emotions, making the switch on a subtle chord to ease you into the change. Their music feels complicated, creating happy and comforting emotions, while at the very same time creating an atmosphere of dissonance and discomfort”
SSGMusic

“Teasing Nature is the most complicated and challanging work of art in the Israeli popular music from recent years”
Israel Hayorm newspaper

“One song struck me as a winner from the very first listen, and that was “Got It”. If this song doesn’t break them into the big time, then frankly the world ain’t right”
I Googled Israel

“An album of mixed colores, sprawling over a range of emotions. Unique dazed journey, sophisticated, catchy. A true gourmet”
YosMusic

“In a world where you are good as your’e last albu, Eatliz can reap the results”
Yedioth Tel Aviv magazine

Eatliz interview in Midnight East and Tarbut Ru Magazines

Posted by Eatliz  |  No Comments  |

Ayelet Dekel caught Eatliz for an interview about creating music and art, life in the middle east, studio recordings Vs. live shows and performances as a football game

Eatliz is known for the internal diversity of its sound – racing from metal to melodic, with layers of different genres. “We’re many people,” says Or, “and our musical direction is not a single line, it’s many lines radiating outward in different directions. It’s lots of different places merging together… I can’t say that Eatliz is rock n’ roll or progressive metal…when we create a new piece we’re not limited – ‘oh that’s not us’. We’re like a musical chameleon. We can change but still remain with the imprint of Eatliz.”
